- Riviera Care Group Directors & background

The Riviera Care Group was established in 2000.

It opened specifically to provide care to young adults between the ages of 16 - 65 who suffer from mental health problems, since opening the service has expanded and now includes supportive living and a domiciliary care service.

Stephanie Bryan is one of the Directors of the Care Group; she qualified as a psychiatric nurse (RMN) in 1992 after training at the Tone Vale Hospital in Taunton & gained her qualification through the Tor College of Health in Exeter, after qualifying she worked as a staff nurse within the acute wards of the Edith Morgan Centre in Torquay, she also worked as a mental health trainer within the local health service & during this time gained her teaching qualification (Certificate in Education).

Her husband Wayne (a Director) also helps to run the business, he previously worked as a nursing assistant on the elderly wards and in acute settings & gained 15 years experience in these areas before setting up the Riviera Care Group with Stephanie.

Shortly after setting up the business Stephanie gained her Registered Managers Award. Since then, Wayne has also gained the same award and is currently working towards his NVQ level 4 in Health & Social care.

Working within the same management team is Joanne Egan who is in-charge of other services within the company; she is the registered manager with the Care Quality Commission for the domiciliary services, & has over 10 years experience of working within the acute statutory mental health services in Torbay and she also holds the Registered Managers Award and NVQ 4 in Health & Social Care.

- The Business, it's Establishments & Limited Companies

The Riviera Care Group is split into 4 limited companies that, together, provide all of the services that the group offer; these are residential care, Supportive living & domiciliary care, they also have offices that provide administrative support for the company as a whole.

The company was started with the purchase of Riviera Court (Riviera Care Ltd) in August 2000, it was previously a hotel & after an extensive refurbishment it was re-opened as a residential care home providing 24hr care for 22 young adults between the ages of 18 & 65, since opening its doors they have maintained full occupancy & have had over 500 clients stay at the home.

Short stay and respite facilities can also be provided at Riviera Court.

In October 2002 the business opened Rydal Court (Riviera Support Ltd), previously a block of holiday flats it was converted into 11 fully furnished self-contained flats with shared communal areas for the residents; here the 11 clients live in independent accommodation but have up to 14hr a week of support from staff who are available from 8am till 6pm each day.

Outside of these hours there is an emergency on call system available to the clients in Rydal Court.

The Braddons (Riviera Support Southwest Ltd) was the third property to be purchased & opened in December 2002 to provide 20 fully furnished self-contained flats providing the same type of support available at the Rydal Court establishment.

As well as the residential establishments that the company own & run they also provide domiciliary care through their Riviera Outreach Service (Riviera Outreach Ltd), this offers clients who may need extra support with day-to-day tasks and may be provided on a 24 hour basis.

They provide this help to clients living in their supportive living establishments & also out in the local community; help is provided based on the individual needs of each client & may include help with such tasks as shopping, cleaning & cooking etc.

The company also has a separate administrative office, which supports all of the separate businesses that are under the Riviera Care Group umbrella, here they carry out the day-to-day administration & deal with all HR matters.
