- Residential Services

Riviera Court is a 22 bedded residential care home for adults between the ages of 16 & 65 who suffer from mental health problems.

It offers a safe, supportive & structured environment where the individual needs of the client are met & independence is encouraged but not expected.

Each client at Riviera Court is assessed & will be cared for based upon their own capabilities and merits, & appropriate stimulation will be offered to prevent deterioration and to help improve & sustain a high quality of life for that person, this enhances client's dignity & encourages them to achieve their maximum potential.

Our care is provided through a client centred planning approach which is reviewed regularly as the client's needs change & their goals are met.

At Riviera Court the emphasis is placed upon recreational, educational, development and leisure activities which are provided via planned activity programmes & the individual client care plans.

Respite & short-term care is available; unfortunately Riviera Court is unable to cater for those who have learning or physical disabilities.

- Staffing @ Riviera Court

Riviera Court is managed by Stephanie Bryan who is a qualified psychiatric nurse with many years experience within the local health authority, she also holds qualifications in teaching & development and is available to the home via a 24hr on-call system should she be needed outside of normal working hours.

Working along side the manager at Riviera Court the staffing team consists of senior carers, care assistants, ancillary staff and student nurses.

- What is Riviera Court like?

Riviera Court is a large detached & spacious residential care home close to the Torquay town centre & is within easy walking distance of the harbour & local amenities.

The home offers 22 single occupancy bedrooms which all have en-suite facilities & are tastefully furnished & decorated, clients are encouraged to bring their own furnishings if they wish to & each room can be provided with a television & hot drinks facilities if requested.

Clients have the benefit of a communal kitchen where they may cook for themselves.

This encourages them to improve upon their life skills, although regular & varied meals are cooked within the home for the clients, & we also offer alternative dietary requirements to suit a persons needs.

The home offers two large communal lounge & dining areas which provide a comfortable & pleasant environment where clients can eat & socialise with each other, & each area is provided with a television & music system for the clients to use.

Riviera Court also benefits from a spacious recreational area which offers a pool table, a table-tennis table & supervised internet access; this area is often used for special events such as birthday's & seasonal parties, meetings and group work.

The home also has a heated indoor pool & fully equipped multi-gym which are made available to all of our clients; these facilities are supervised.

Riviera Court has a no-smoking policy due to the focus on promoting health within their clients & staff.

- Education, activities & volunteering

Riviera Court offers a full range of varied educational & recreational activities both within the home & out in the local community.

Clients are actively involved in deciding upon these activities, funding for certain activities are made available through educational establishments & various government initiatives, & we also provide a seven seater mini-bus to assist clients to their destinations and to facilitate recreational outings.

Volunteering is encouraged at Riviera Court, this helps bring a vital presence from the local community into the residential home, & helps client's to re-integrate back into their community; these volunteers become involved with the clients & can help with their daily activities. A client representative is appointed by fellow residents to act as an informal advocate and keeps staff up to date with client's views or opinions.

Riviera Court has various support to help them with the day-to-day running of the home.

To ensure Riviera Court is being beneficial to all participants, both the recipients & providers of the care, we have developed a statement of purpose covering the homes aims & objectives, we also use in-house systems to monitor the quality of care within the home, & this is addressed through regular staff business meetings, client meetings, appraisals & supervision.

Riviera Court is registered with The Care Quality Commission (CQC) they inspect the residential home on a regular basis to monitor the social care services on offer & produce a report to show their findings.
